Snowmobile rental terms
RENTAL TERMS
SNOWMOBILES
1. Use of the vehicle
1. The renter must take care of the vehicle as a careful person would take care of their own. The renter must exercise particular care and caution when driving.
2. Only the renter may drive the vehicle. The vehicle may be handed over to another person or driven by another person only if the rental agreement expressly authorises that person.
3. The vehicle must not be used for unlawful purposes, competitions or practice for competitions. The vehicle must not be used for driving instruction without a separate agreement.
4. The vehicle and its accessories must be properly locked when parked.
5. When Vuokrausliike.fi hands the vehicle over to the renter, both parties must inspect its external condition to avoid uncertainty about when any damage occurred. Any damage must be recorded in the agreement.
6. The vehicle is supplied with a full fuel tank and must be returned with a full tank. Fuel is not included in the rental price.
7. The daily rental period is 23 hours, from 10:00 to 09:00 the following day. Any exceptional rental times must be agreed separately and recorded in the agreement.
8. Daily rental includes a maximum of 200 km per day. Additional kilometres cost €1/km.
9. The renter agrees to comply with Finnish law.
10. The renter must hold at least a category T driving licence.
11. The renter must be at least 23 years old.
2. Responsibility for the vehicle, its accessories and riding equipment during the rental period
1. The snowmobile insurance excess is €800. Up to the maximum excess stated in the agreement, the renter must:
a. Pay compensation for damage to the vehicle during the rental period.
b. Pay in full for riding equipment damaged during the rental period.
c. Pay compensation for parts and accessories lost from the vehicle or riding equipment. If necessary, the excess is charged after the vehicle has been inspected and a repair estimate obtained. The renter and the rental company will always seek to agree between themselves on dents and scratches arising during the rental.
3. The renter’s actions in the event of faults, damage or theft
1. The renter must immediately inform the rental company of any fault, damage or theft affecting the vehicle. Theft must be reported to the police without delay. The rental company will then inform the renter of the action to be taken.
2. In the event of a traffic accident, the renter must always report the damage to the rental company without delay by calling Vuokrausliike.fi on +358 45 851 7045. If responsibility is unclear, the renter must notify the police. The police must always be notified if anyone is injured. A collision with a cervid must also always be reported to the police, and the renter must provide the rental company with the police certificate confirming the report.
3. If the renter fails to make the reports described above, the renter is liable to the rental company for the resulting loss.
4. Returning the vehicle at the end of the agreed rental period
1. The vehicle must be returned to the agreed place at the end of the agreed rental period. Any change to the return time must be agreed with the rental company sufficiently in advance. The contractual rental period ends when the vehicle has been returned to Vuokrausliike.fi and accepted by its staff.
2. If the vehicle has not been returned at the end of the rental period and no extension has been agreed with the rental company, the matter will be reported to the police. In this situation, the rental company is entitled to full compensation for the costs incurred and to charge the daily rental rate increased by 50% for each rental day or part thereof that begins.
3. If the renter fails to fulfil the obligations stated in paragraph 1, the rental company is entitled to reasonable compensation for the financial losses caused by that failure.
5. Termination / cancellation of the agreement
1. Vuokrausliike.fi may terminate this agreement during the rental period if it becomes apparent that the renter is materially breaching the agreement or, in the rental company’s assessment, is unable to handle the vehicle properly.
2. The renter’s liability for all damage: If damage to the vehicle results from the renter’s intentional conduct, gross negligence, use of the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or another intoxicating substance, use for a criminal purpose, or another material breach of this agreement, the renter must compensate the rental company for the damage in full.
3. Release from liability: The renter is released from liability if the rental company receives full compensation for the damage from the other party’s motor liability insurance or from the person responsible for the damage.
4. Other payment obligations: The renter must pay, including all associated costs, any fines, parking charges and parking violation fees arising from use of the vehicle during the rental period.
5. Snowmobile drive belts are replaced at regular intervals, so a belt will not fail due to wear. If a belt has to be replaced during the booking, its price of €100 is charged in addition to the rent.
6. Payment of rent
1. A booking fee of 30% is paid when booking if the rental is more than one month away.
2. The remaining rent must be paid no later than 14 days before the vehicle is handed over for use.
3. Any additional charges, such as excess mileage (€1/km), are charged as agreed when the vehicle is returned.
4. Other payment arrangements may be agreed before the rental by recording them in the rental agreement.
5. A rental security deposit of €500 is required by credit card.
7. Fuel and vehicle care
1. The correct fuel for the vehicle is 98 E-5. The renter is responsible for damage caused by using the wrong fuel. During the rental period, the renter must carry out normal vehicle checks, such as checking the engine oil level (only fully synthetic XPS 2T oil may be used), coolant and similar items. The snowmobile must be returned with a full fuel tank. Refuelling an underfilled tank incurs a €40 charge plus €2.20 per litre.
2. If the rental company terminates the rental agreement, the renter must return the vehicle to the rental company without delay. Taking the vehicle outside Finland is prohibited without the rental company’s written permission. Permission is considered at the rental company’s discretion on a case-by-case basis. The rental company may charge a previously agreed additional fee for insurance costs arising from taking the vehicle abroad.
3. The renter may cancel the booking / terminate this agreement within the following time limits. Cancellation must always be made to the rental company in writing. Cancellation takes effect when the rental company receives it. The rental company must confirm the cancellation immediately on receipt. If confirmation has not arrived within 3 working days, the renter must check that the cancellation was received. If cancellation occurs more than 30 days before the rental begins, the booking fee is refunded less an €80 handling charge. If the booking fee is less than this, it is not refunded. If cancellation occurs 29–21 days before the rental begins, the booking fee (30% of the rent) is not refunded. If the booking is cancelled 21–14 days before the rental begins, the renter must pay half of the agreed rent. If cancellation occurs less than 14 days before the rental begins, the renter must pay the agreed rental price in full.
4. The renter may cancel the snowmobile rental and receive a refund less an €80 administration fee if the renter presents a medical certificate confirming an illness or a comparable condition that prevents the renter from renting and driving the snowmobile.
